To the Citizens of Tennessee Senate District 15
Friends,
As we head into the final stretch of session, we’re continuing to move legislation forward focused on protecting Tennessee families, strengthening accountability, and addressing real issues impacting our communities.
This week, several key measures advanced in the Senate:
Protecting Patients
The Senate passed legislation to ensure Tennesseans who were coerced into gender transition procedures have a clear path to seek justice.
This gives individuals the ability to take legal action if they were harmed after being pressured into life-altering medical decisions — because patients deserve honest guidance, not influence at their most vulnerable.
Protecting Free Speech on Campus
We passed the Charlie Kirk Act to ensure free speech is protected at Tennessee’s public colleges and universities.
This legislation prevents schools from canceling speakers based on their views and reinforces that campuses should be places for open discussion and debate.
Holding AI Companies Accountable
As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, we’re taking steps to ensure it is used responsibly.
Legislation advanced this week requires AI companies to be transparent about risks and act quickly when harm occurs — especially when it comes to protecting children and the public.
Another bill creates serious penalties for developers who intentionally design AI systems that promote violence, exploitation, or harmful behavior..
Protecting Children
The Tennessee Anti-Grooming Act advanced this week, giving law enforcement tools to intervene earlier and stop exploitation before it escalates.
We also moved legislation forward to ensure offenders who commit crimes against multiple minors are held accountable for each victim.
Supporting Students
The Senate Finance Committee advanced legislation to address food insecurity on college campuses.
This ensures students have access to the resources they need so they can focus on their education and succeed.
Protecting Women’s Athletics
The Senate passed a resolution urging Congress to protect women’s athletics under Title IX, ensuring fairness and preserving opportunities for female athletes.
Cracking Down on Crime
Legislation is advancing to crack down on fraudulent freight theft, helping protect Tennessee businesses and strengthen enforcement against organized theft.
As always, I’ll continue working to protect our communities and deliver results for the people of Tennessee.
I also had the opportunity to welcome several great groups to the Capitol this week, including the Young Cattlemen’s Leadership Program, Impact Leadership Putnam, and Living Scent Ministries. I hope you’ll take a moment to enjoy some of the photos below.
Thank you for staying engaged.
Sincerely,
Senator Paul Bailey
