Senator Paul Bailey remarks on National Motto in the Classroom Act

Hello, this is State Senator Paul Bailey. Earlier this year legislation sponsored title the national motto in the classroom Act was signed into law by Governor Haslam after receiving unanimous approval by the Senate.

It requires that our national motto, “In God We Trust” be prominently displayed in every public school in Tennessee. We appreciate the overwhelming support we have received from the citizens of Tennessee.

In 1956, President Eisenhower signed into law, “In God We Trust” as our national motto.

In 2011, the US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to affirm the motto and to encourage its display in public squares.

Now, Tennessee has joined several states and passing measures to reaffirm the importance and relevance of America’s national motto in our schools. It is our country’s Foundation, and an important part of our history and identity as Americans.

You make contact your local school board to find out if schools in your area have the motto displayed.

If you need more information about the law or have questions regarding its display, please contact my office. You can also go to www.InGodWeTrust.com to learn more.

Please join the nationwide effort to proudly display In God We Trust all across America. Thank you and God bless you.
